The city from below

Daxter’s size gives ordinary rooms and machinery a useful platforming scale. The route through them depends on reading gaps and ledges while dealing with the infestation that brought him there. His boasting gives the adventure a comic voice, and the focused assignments are easier to follow than a city full of competing errands. Collecting every object can slow the rescue, so the first trip works best with attention on movement and the next destination.

Use the early jobs to learn how Daxter crosses a room before searching every corner. The campaign does not require a second PSP or a PS2; revisit the optional activities if the movement and comic interruptions appeal.

A sidekick’s own assignment

Ready at Dawn identifies Daxter as its first released game, dated March 2006. It follows the companion’s activities before Jak II and builds a separate adventure around his extermination work. The optional Combat Bugs mode and Jak X connection are extras, not requirements for the solo campaign.
