An encounter with room to change

A group of Covenant enemies is a small system: pressure on one member can change what the others do. Carrying only two weapons makes a dropped gun a tactical option, while the shield encourages a retreat that does not end the fight. Vehicles open the battlefield further. Repeated interior sections are less persuasive than the broad outdoor spaces, especially when the route asks you to retrace familiar corridors.

Try a campaign level cooperatively if a second player is available. Switch weapons to match a threat rather than hoarding one favourite throughout the level.

Before Xbox Live

Bungie’s game accompanied the North American Xbox launch in 2001. Local cooperative play and System Link sit at the centre of this original edition; the later Halo 2 made Xbox Live matchmaking part of the series.
