Choosing a team for Sinnoh
Choosing which creatures to train is a more interesting commitment than trying to catch everything immediately. A team’s weaknesses become clear as routes, gyms and rival fights demand different answers. Platinum’s return to Sinnoh adds the Distortion World and a Battle Frontier, extending both the setting and the tests of a developed team. The repeated encounters can slow exploration, and the later battle challenges suit players who enjoy refining a plan after the main journey.
Build around a few complementary roles and keep a move that can weaken an opponent without immediately defeating it. Treat the main adventure as a useful stopping point before deciding whether the Battle Frontier or a wider collection deserves more time.
An expanded edition and an older slot
Platinum is the expanded Diamond and Pearl edition, released in Japan in 2008 and Europe in 2009. It belongs to the DS generation of Pokémon, but it also connects to the GBA games through an optional migration feature. That connection depends on a physical slot that later DS-family models omit.
Why we chose it for Nintendo DS
Build a complementary team through Sinnoh, then decide how far to pursue the Battle Frontier.
