Read a phrase, hear a beat

A shrinking ring makes the next beat visible, but reading the whole pattern is what turns a run from frantic tapping into a phrase. Short story scenes interrupt the song to show whether the agents’ encouragement is working. Their absurdity provides a reason to care about a result beyond the score, and quieter situations can give the same tapping rules a different emotional weight. The abrupt failure state makes harder songs demanding; repetition is most useful when it helps you hear the pattern.

Listen to the song as well as watching the rings. Keep the stylus close to the screen and avoid gripping it harder when a pattern gets crowded. Replay a comfortable song to establish timing before attempting the next difficulty.

Rhythm on the touch screen

The North American release belongs to 2006, with Europe following in 2007. iNiS builds the performance around direct stylus movements rather than a specialised music peripheral. Local wireless modes extend the format, but the campaign does not depend on a network service.

Why we chose it for Nintendo DS

Turn three stylus actions into musical phrases and watch the story respond to your timing.
