The next person has a puzzle
An ordinary conversation can turn into a brainteaser with little concern for whether the puzzle belongs to the speaker’s problem. That contrivance works because exploring St. Mystere supplies a change of pace between bouts of concentrated thought. Moving pieces on the lower screen makes the spatial puzzles easy to experiment with. Some riddles depend on spotting a wording trick; the hint system is more useful than repeatedly submitting an answer based on the same mistaken assumption.
Making room for a hint
Sketch a spatial problem on paper if you need room to work through it. If a puzzle’s wording is obstructing progress, spend a hint coin and move on when it has done its job. An unassisted answer is not the only worthwhile outcome.
A village around a puzzle book
LEVEL-5 published the Japanese original in 2007; Nintendo published the European edition in 2008. Akira Tago’s puzzle work sits inside a continuing mystery with animated scenes. The combination lets a collection of largely self-contained challenges also sustain a reason to visit the next street.
