Another route through the mission

Radio chatter can be an instruction, a warning or a complaint about the shot you just missed. The guided sections let the scenery and enemy formations arrive at a controlled pace, while open encounters change the movement. Discovering a route condition gives a familiar mission another purpose. The compact length makes an unsuccessful experiment easier to absorb than it would be in a much longer campaign.

Finish a route once before trying to uncover every branch. Listen for requests from the wingmen and pay attention when a mission offers an unusual opportunity. Rumble is welcome feedback rather than a requirement for basic play.

Feedback through the controller

Nintendo’s Japanese release in April 1997 was packaged with the Rumble Pak. The European title is Lylat Wars. Vibration adds a physical response to damage and action, but the game’s route structure and scoring remain the reasons to return after the accessory’s novelty has passed.

Why we chose it for Nintendo 64

A short branching campaign makes route discovery and score improvement easy to revisit.
